Plot Development

Why does Dostoyevsky break the novel between Parts III and IV, especially with so many relating elements in each part?

  1. Dostoyevsky breaks the novel between parts 3 and 4 to build suspense. He makes the reader want to anticipate what's next, something like a cliff hanger. (LaCassie Ponder)
